Run enough Topside raids in ARC Raiders and you’ll learn to hate that vault alarm. You’re buried somewhere in Stella Montis, your squad finally gets the door puzzle moving, and then the whole place starts screaming. It’s the kind of noise that makes every rat, patrol, and bored PvP squad turn their head. Sure, vaults are where people go for better gear, blueprints, and the stuff that makes players want to buy ARC Raiders Items, but in the match itself, that room is bait. Good bait, but still bait. If you treat it like a free payday, you’re probably donating your kit to someone sitting above you with a clear angle.
Clear the room before touching anything
The puzzle isn’t the hard part most of the time. The hard part is staying alive while someone is stuck doing it. Fuses, batteries, terminals, whatever it is, the player interacting with it can’t just strafe out and fight back. They’re pinned in place for a few ugly seconds. That’s why your squad needs to slow down before starting. Sweep the corners. Kill the drones. Check the side rooms. Listen for bots moving through metal halls. It feels boring for about thirty seconds, then it saves the whole run. Getting tagged mid-animation can also throw your position off in a nasty way, and once that happens, panic sets in fast.
Stop crowding the loot box
This is where decent squads turn into pigeons in a car park. The chest opens and everyone dives into the same tiny space, blocking each other, opening menus, swapping junk, arguing over who needs what. Don’t do that. Pick one person to loot fast. Not carefully. Fast. That player grabs the rare stuff, the plans, the parts that actually matter, and sorts the bag later. Everyone else should be away from the chest, holding doors, ladders, ziplines, and awkward little angles that lead into the room. You’re not there to look cool on the damage screen. You’re there to make sure nobody walks in and steals three minutes of work.
Look up or get farmed
Vault campers are a real problem, and most of them aren’t doing anything clever. They’re just patient. They sit on pipes, rafters, catwalks, broken ledges, any ugly perch with a line of sight into the vault floor. Then your team triggers the alarm and they start shooting down while everyone is looking at the door. Make vertical checks a habit before and after the puzzle. If you’ve got smokes, use them early, not when two teammates are already crawling. EMPs can help too, especially when ARC units are mixing into the fight and making the whole room harder to read. A messy smoke cloud isn’t pretty, but it buys space, and space wins vault fights.
Leave before greed ruins the run
The cleanest vault clear still means nothing if you die ten metres from the exit route. Once the main take is secured, move. Don’t hang around because somebody thinks there might be one more scrap pile in a side corner. That’s how raids fall apart. Break sight lines, avoid the obvious tunnels, and don’t run in a neat little line if you can help it. Treat the payload like it’s already valuable, because it is.
