A cancer diagnosis or concerns about an inherited cancer risk can feel overwhelming. Dr Bhavini Shah is committed to providing compassionate, personalised and evidence-based care, supporting patients and their families throughout every stage of their journey.
As a Medical Oncologist, Dr Shah cares for people with breast, skin, gynaecological, lung and bowel cancers across Melbourne’s South East and Gippsland. Every treatment plan is developed around each person’s diagnosis, treatment goals and overall health, ensuring care is tailored to their individual needs.
Depending on the type of cancer and care may include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, oral anticancer treatments, surveillance following treatment and survivorship care. Throughout treatment, Dr Shah works closely with GPs, surgeons, radiation oncologists and other specialists to provide coordinated care and support informed decision-making.
Alongside her oncology practice, Dr Shah leads the Familial Cancer Centre (FCC) in Gippsland, helping individuals and families better understand whether an inherited gene change may increase their risk of developing certain cancers.

Dr Shah is an accredited specialist for advanced training in breast, gynaecological and skin cancers. She is also passionate about improving access to cancer care across regional Victoria, helping more people to get expert treatment close to home.
She contributed to research through the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and has served as a Principal Investigator for clinical trials at Latrobe Regional Health. This experience allows her to remain involved in advances in cancer treatment while continuing to provide exceptional care to her patients.
